The Fire Service has been my life, my passion, and my calling since 1990.
As a wildland firefighter, I've seen daylight turn amber, then black. As a Lieutenant on a first-arriving fire engine, I've controlled the chaos of structural fires, vehicle wrecks, water rescues, and medical emergencies.
As a Fire Chief, I've led firefighters to accomplish more than they ever expected. As an Instructor, I've taught hundreds of firefighters how to become better at their craft.
I hope to draw readers into the Fire Service. I want to show them the unique and special nature of my Brotherhood and Sisterhood. Where there is service, there is passion, a sense of purpose, pride, ownership, heartbreak, and pain. Being a Firefighter is a lifelong commitment to the principles of hope and trust. In the war between forces, with conviction, we stand on the side of love.

Our journeys are forged in the stories we tell. Join me in the journey.
